Men across the world are growing out their facial hair this month to support prostate cancer awareness.

November marks the start of "No Shave November" and this year, the Paso Robles Police Department is making "Mo-vember" a little more personal.

Participating officers donated $50 to the DJ Bigelow Scholarship Fund, named after Paso Robles police officer Daniel Bigelow who died of cancer in 2015.

Santa Maria police officers are also participating in their own "No Shave November" fundraiser where each officer donated $50.

The act of not shaving this month brings awareness about prostate cancer.

At the end of the month, the Santa Maria Police Department will judge who has the "best overall facial hair". The department says the winner will get bragging rights and a gift card.

The Police Officers Association will also match every donation and the Santa Maria Police Association of Middle Management will also donate $500.

Last year, the SMPD was able to raise $7,100, which was entirely donated to the Mission Hope Cancer Center in Santa Maria.
