A non-profit organization in San Luis Obispo held its first farmers' market as a fundraiser for people with special needs.

The Ranch is a local program associated with the United Cerebral Palsy Organization.

The nonprofit's mission is to empower people with special needs through agriculture, recreation and community projects.

For their first farmers' market over the weekend, they sold homemade jams, fresh lavender bundles, succulents, fresh vegetables and other goods.

The manager of The Ranch, Jean'ne Blackwell, says she is happy she gets to help people with special needs learn new skills.

"I think this is what they really appreciate more than anything and they've never been in this sort of environment where they're really able to do something, accomplish something and see results," said Blackwell.
