Lompoc city leaders warn of phone scam

The City of Lompoc is warning the community about a phone scam.

Multiple people have reported getting calls from the utility billing division. City officials say the utility division will never call you and ask for money over the phone.

According to the city, there are four ways you can pay; online, in person, at city hall, or over the phone.

The city says the only time billing will call a customer is if there's an issue and to find out why there is discrepancy.

Community members are advised to directly call the city if they have any concerns at (805)-736-1261.
