LOMPOC, Calif. — A Lompoc Police Department K-9 will soon have more protection on the job.

The non-profit organization "Vested Interest in K-9's" donated a bullet and stab protective vest to Lompoc PD's K-9 Brahms.

The police department says Brahms' vest will be embroidered with the sentiment: "This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K-9's".

The non-profit was established in 2009 to help law enforcement agencies throughout the country protect their K-9's with protective body armors.

The donation to provide one protective vest for a K-9 costs $950.
