First and second grade students in the Lompoc Unified School District were recognized this week for leadership, academic excellence and good citizenship.

The district says each elementary school in the district selected one first and second grade “outstanding” student, who, along with their principals, enjoyed pizza and an awards center at Lompoc Unified’s education center where they walked the red carpet and were given high fives.

“You have each demonstrated unique leadership qualities at your school site. Congratulations for your well-deserved recognition,” said Superintendent Trevor McDonald.

Last fall, the district recognized TK and kindergarten students within the district.
