The City of Santa Maria partnered with the Special Olympics on Friday to hold its fifth annual Mahjong Tournament.
Organizers hosted a game that is similar to Rummy using things like domino tiles.
There were 88 players from all over the west coast participating in the competition.
Raffle items and registration fees for the tournament raised money for special olympics in Santa Maria.
"They love to be able to support our special olympics locally, they love the comrodery of meeting people sometimes they only see these people once a year," says Mahjong tournamanet organizer Donna Eschen, "at this tournament a lot of these people play together and they come as a group from Santa Barbara or the valley where ever they've come from."
Last year the tournament raised $17,000.
