Based on protocols, emergency crews are declaring a Level 1 MCI (Mass Casualty Incident). In San Luis Obispo County, this is declared when there are at least three patients prior to triage and when the number/condition of patients require more emergency resources.
Drivers should expect major traffic delays in the area as several agencies respond to help the patients and clear the roadway of debris.
The San Luis Obispo City Fire Department is also aiding with the collision.
This is a developing story, check back later for details.
