A Visalia man is facing attempted murder charges after investigators say he injured his girlfriend and threatened to kill her in San Simeon.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the Silver Surf Motel on the 9300 block of Castillo Drive Saturday to reports of a possible domestic violence incident.

The woman told deputies her boyfriend, identified as Jerrod LaRue, 42, of Visalia, had punched her in the head, according to a sheriff's office press release.

The woman reportedly ran to the balcony of the second-story room where deputies say LaRue threatened to kill his girlfriend and tried to throw her over the balcony railing.

The woman was able to call 911 and get help, officials say.

LaRue was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail at around 2 a.m. on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held on $500,000 bail, jail logs show.

The investigation is ongoing.
