An Isla Vista man is facing felony vandalism charges after authorities say he destroyed merchandise at the 7-Eleven store on Calle Real in Goleta.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the store Wednesday morning after employees called 911 to report that a man entered the store making incoherent statements and began throwing dozens of glass bottles on the floor and damaging several display cases.

The sheriff's office says the store employees hid in a rear office during the rampage.

When deputies arrived, sheriff's officials say the man was standing in front of the store screaming and suffering from cuts on his hands and feet.

Ghazi Elayyan, 27, was arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail with bail set at $20,000. Sheriff's officials say a mental health evaluation will be conducted while he is in custody.
