Police made an arrest following a disturbance at Costco in Santa Maria.

Officers responded to the business on the 1700 block of S. Bradley Road shortly after 6 p.m. Monday after they say they received conflicting reports of shots fired inside the business and someone vandalizing TVs.

Police say the first officer on scene saw someone matching the suspect’s description run outside the business and into the parking lot.

The officer reportedly ordered him to stop, but police say the suspect refused.

The suspect, identified as Jose De Leon Dominguez from the Santa Maria area, was eventually restrained near the intersection of Meehan Street and Bradley Road with the help of bystanders and taken into custody once additional officers arrived on scene, according to police.

Police say they found out no shots had been fired inside Costco, but that the suspect had pushed two televisions valued at more than $3,000 onto the floor, breaking them. Some inside thought the sound was gunshots.

Dominguez was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail and faces felony vandalism and resisting arrest charges. Bail was set at $25,000.00.
