Man arrested for narcotics and weapons violations after search in Isla Vista

A man is facing multiple felony charges after law enforcement conducted a search in Isla Vista Friday.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, deputies and officers with the UC Santa Barbara Police searched a residence near Sueno Rd. and Camino Del Sur in connection to a previous traffic stop made Dec. 5th where several firearms, firearm accessories and narcotics were seized.

During that traffic enforcement stop, 35-year-old Jered Harwin was identified as a passenger in the vehicle and cited a misdemeanor for possession of a controlled substance.

As deputies further investigated the incident, they discovered Harwin was on conditional release from custody while he awaits trial for an unrelated charge, officials said.

Deputies then searched Harwin's residence under the terms of his court-ordered release.

According to authorities, 47 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 32 grams of suspected cocaine, 3 grams of suspected heroin and a loaded, and an un-serialized 9mm pistol was found during the search.

Deputies arrested Harwin and booked him into the Santa Barbara County Jail for
several felonies including possession of a controlled substance while armed , possession of a controlled substance for sales, and possession of a firearm/ammunition by a prohibited person.

Under the court's extension of the Emergency Rule 4, Harwin was released without bail, according to sheriff's officials.
