A man who was found dead at the Gaviota State Park beach on Sunday was the suspect in a double homicide in Anaheim.

Authorities say the bodies of Maria Ernestina Ramirez, 47, and Efrain Hernandez-Ramirez, 40, were found in an apartment in Anaheim at about 6:15 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say both victims had been shot.

Investigators identified Jorge Pino, 57, as a suspect in the murders, and detectives reportedly began preparing an arrest warrant.

But at about 10:30 a.m., police say Pino was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the beach in Gaviota.

Investigators say Pino, who lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, had been in a long-term relationship with Maria Ernestina Ramirez that had recently ended.

Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone who had contact with Pino before the deadly shootings to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
