A Yuba City man will avoid additional jail time for a deadly crash at the Oceano Dunes earlier this year.

Oscar Renteria Corchado was sentenced by a San Luis Obispo County Superior Court judge to three years of probation and 300 community work service hours for the June 22 crash.

State Parks says Shawn Josef Imlig, 37, of Brentwood was driving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in an area known as Sand Highway 12 when he was hit in the head by a Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle (ROV) driven by Corchado that had gone airborne.

Corchado's sentenced did include two days in jail, which he has already served, and also a fine, which will be determined at a restitution status determination hearing in January.

He has been out of custody since posting bail following the crash.
