Surveillance footage has been released of the man police say tried to rob a woman in a Lompoc neighborhood Monday morning.

It happened at about 10:43 a.m. in the Glenn Ellen area on the north/west side of town.

The woman told KSBY News she was on her front porch when a man walked up and asked to use her phone to call his mom. She told him her phone was on the charger. The woman said the man started to leave, then turned around and pulled out a gun.

Police say the man demanded money, but ran off after she told him she didn't have any and screamed.

The area was searched but the man got away.

Police say nearby surveillance shows the man running off. They’re releasing a photo in hopes that someone can help identify him.
