A man was taken into custody Friday morning after barricading himself inside a Paso Robles apartment, breaking a window and jumping out, officials said.
The incident involving what the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office describes as a possible suicidal subject took place along the 2800 block of Ramada Drive.
Sheriff’s officials say the man appeared to be going through a mental health crisis when he barricaded himself inside his grandmother’s apartment.
He was the only one said to be inside the unit.
Law enforcement on scene tried negotiating with the man, and at one point thought he was coming out, but he didn’t.
A while later, he reportedly broke one of the windows and began throwing things out of it.
At around 10:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said the man jumped through the broken window and threw a knife at a deputy.
The deputy was not harmed.
The man was taken into custody and was being evaluated by medics on scene.
