Vandenberg Air Force Base will test launch an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile early Wednesday morning.
The launch is scheduled to take place between 1:13 a.m. and 7:13 a.m. on October 2.
Air Force officials say the purpose of the launch is to test the weapon system's effectiveness, readiness and accuracy.
Such tests are typically scheduled about four or five times a year at Vandenberg. The most recent launch occurred in May.
