Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School in San Luis Obispo will be hosting a 'drive-in' style graduation on June 5, according to a press release.
The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Madonna Inn Meadows. Officials at the school said they received permission from both San Luis Obispo County and the Bishop of Monterey.
The release said families will remain inside their cars during the ceremony and only speakers and graduates will be able to leave their vehicle. Each graduate will have their name read out loud then receive their diploma.
The school said the companies Got You Covered and Bill Gaines Audio, Inc. will be providing a portable concert stage and FM car frequency transmitters during the event.
“We are unbelievably eager to see our seniors and their families experience this moment together and we are so grateful for this opportunity to come together as a community,” Principal Mike Susank said in the release.
