The Morro Bay Police Department has identified two people suspected of breaking into cars and burglarizing several San Luis Obispo County businesses.

Police say they first received a report of a burglarized vehicle on December 8 and were able to identify a vehicle associated with the crime and two suspects who it turned out were also wanted on burglary charges in Colusa, California.

On January 5, police say the vehicle, a maroon Dodge Caravan, and the two suspects were spotted at the Motel 6 in Morro Bay. Police took one of the suspects, Lindsay Dawnelle Nunes, into custody at the scene but the second suspect, Christopher Nunes, fled in the vehicle.

The next day, investigators say Atascadero police spotted Christopher Nunes in the maroon Caravan and initiated a traffic stop. Police say Nunes ran into a business where he was taken into custody.

Investigators believe the two suspects were involved in a commercial burglary spree in Atascadero at the time of the arrest.

Police say they found multiple items of stolen property in the motel room as well as the vehicle. Some of that property has reportedly been returned to the burglarized businesses.
