Morro Bay Police help arrest woman for allegedly embezzling more than $330,000

The Morro Bay Police Department assisted the Tulare County Sheriff's Office in arresting a woman accused of embezzling more than $330,000.

Denise Franks, the Vice President of 19 years for Best Agri Marketing in Traver, California was arrested at her vacation home in Morro Bay Tuesday.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Office Agricultural Crimes Unit responded to a call in September for someone embezzling money from Franks' company.

The victim said Franks had embezzled more than $330,000 over the last four years.

A search warrant was served at Franks' home Tuesday after a three-month investigation by the Tulare County Sheriff's Office.

Franks was then found to be at her vacation home in Morro Bay.

The Morro Bay Police Department detained Franks at her vacation home until Tulare County Sheriff's Office Detectives arrived in Morro Bay and arrested Franks.

She is charged with embezzlement, grand theft and identity theft. She was transported to Tulare County and booked into an Adult Pre-Trial Facility.

Her bail is set at $75,000.
