UPDATE (8:40 a.m.) - CHP reported shortly after 8:30 a.m. that traffic was moving through the area again. Minor injuries were reported.

UPDATE (8 a.m.) - The California Highway Patrol reports two separate crashes were affecting traffic and five vehicles were involved.

ORIGINAL STORY: A multi-vehicle crash was slowing traffic near Vandenberg Air Force Base Tuesday morning.
It happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Highway 1 near Firefighter Road.
Initial reports were that as many as seven vehicles were involved in the crash which reportedly occurred in foggy conditions.
As of 7:53 a.m., traffic was reportedly backed up in the northbound lanes to Vandenberg's main gate and only one lane of traffic was open.
No word on the extent of any injuries but paramedics were requested at the scene.
