Nearly 200 runners gathered in San Luis Obispo early Saturday morning to participate in the fifth annual La Cuesta Ranch Trail Run.
According to race director Luis Escobar, the trail run is comprised of 10k, 25k and 50k races.
Escobar says this run is unique because it takes place on a private property where runners do not typically have access.
It costs $10 to participate in the trail run, which is open to competitive and amateur runners alike.
"There are like-minded people who come. They're dirt people," said Escobar. "They're people who like to camp, sleep in tents or on the ground, who like to be outside and enjoy the natural environment. I've never met a trail runner that wasn't smiling and having a good time."
Running Warehouse, Hammer Nutrition and Orangetheory Fitness in San Luis Obispo sponsored the event.
The next trail run on the central coast is the 35-mile endurance run on March 21 in Santa Barbara. For more information on how to register, click here.
