New allegations raised against Mountainbrook Church pastor, church board member says

New allegations have been raised against Mountainbrook Church Pastor Thom O’Leary according to church board members.

In an email sent around 3:10 p.m. Sunday, church board member John Waddell said the investigation into 'inappropriate behaviors' accusations against O'Leary are ongoing.

Waddell added that new credible and "serious" allegations from male and female staff members have surfaced, but could not discuss details further.

"We've hired an outside professional human relations personnel firm to help us with this and actually conduct an independent investigation," said John Waddell.

Initial accusations against Lead Pastor Thom O'Leary reportedly include groping and coming to church intoxicated, according to one church member.

"I feel very disappointed that [Mountainbrook Church] didn't share the information that they shared with [KSBY], with us and that we didn't have an opportunity to ask questions," said Jeff Bradley, a congregant.

The church held a meeting at 4 p.m. Sunday to update members of the congregation about the investigation.

Waddell goes on to say in the email, "It was our intent to update our congregation at the church meeting today at 4pm, but new allegations have been raised, so the investigation is still underway and we are not able to discuss any details at this time."

Church staff told KSBY News the allegations do not include a criminal investigation and police are not involved.

O'leary has reportedly been placed on paid leave until February.
