Pearson said he wanted to paint a mural that showcased the community's origins.

"It's a bright, bold celebration of Oceano as a community, of Hispanic culture, of indigenous and Mexican culture, and the history of Oceano.," Pearson said.

The Oceano Beach Community Association provided funding for the artwork. Members wanted the mural to benefit Oceano and its small businesses.
