A NICU nurse who treated four babies born with complications 14 years ago reunited with the kids Wednesday.
Brook Lorber is a registered nurse working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.
Four babies, born prematurely or with complications within days of one another, were treated by Lorber 14 years ago.
Now they all compete on a gymnastics team and won gold medals this year as California State Champions for Trampoline and Power Tumbling.
Lorber watched the kids do stunts and routines at Central Coast Gymnastics Wednesday night after they reunited.
She said she was proud to see their success but couldn't take the credit for nursing the kids to health.
"We do our best job and try to take care of these kids like they're our own," Lorber said. "I'm only part of a team."
The kids said sharing this experience with each other has helped bring them closer together.
Lorber still works at the same hospital where she treated the kids.
