The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a woman's body in the Spooner's Cove area of Montaña de Oro State Park.
Sheriff's officials say State Parks rangers found the body at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday after witnesses reported seeing a woman who was walking alone on the bluffs fall backward over a 70-foot cliff onto the beach.
The woman was described as being in her late 40s. Sheriff's officials have not yet released her name, pending notification of next of kin.
An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death, but the sheriff's office says no foul play is suspected.
