A man is behind bars after leading police in a vehicle pursuit Saturday morning.

Before 8:30 a.m., Pismo Beach police officers overheard the Arroyo Grande Police Department in pursuit of a large RV westbound on Grand Ave.

The pursuit was canceled as the vehicle drove toward the beach on Grand Ave, according to police.

Around 8:30 a.m., Pismo Beach police officers saw the same RV fail to yield after driving recklessly northbound on Highway 1 in Pismo Beach. Police said the vehicle also went the wrong way on a 1-way street and swerved into on-coming traffic.

Officers engaged the vehicle in a pursuit to the area of Cave Landing Dr. where the pursuit was stopped.

According to officials, the RV was then spotted shortly after by the Port San Luis Harbor Patrol and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department in Avila Beach near Fat Cat’s Restaurant.

After a brief standoff, the driver, 24-year-old Randall Cox of Oceano, exited the RV through a roof hatch and surrendered to officers.

Police said the vehicle was stolen from an Oceano on a previous date.

Cox was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, and a violation of his felony probation.
