SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Octagon Barn Center in San Luis Obispo held a grand opening ceremony Saturday.
The project took 20 years of restoration, planning and construction.
The grand opening featured wine tasting from five Edna Valley wineries, an art show by the San Luis Outdoor Painters for the Environment, live music and activities for kids.
The Octagon Barn Center will serve as a venue for special events, a tourist destination and a trailhead for the Bob Jones City-to-Sea trail.
"Building the Octagon Barn Center is a way for us to welcome people who come here for gatherings, family events, concerts, and non-profit fundraisers," said Kaila Dettman, Executive Director of the Barn Center.
The Octagon Barn was first built in 1906 and is said to be a "symbol of our country's long-standing commitment to productive and natural lands."
