Old San Luis Barbecue Company is trying to help support the community through affordable meals.
The San Luis Obispo business has started providing lower-priced meals that community members can buy for themselves or others.
The owner, Matt Pearce, says that he started the effort to help support the community as he knew hospitality industry workers and more would face uncertainty due to coronavirus-related restrictions.
He says that people have already started buying multiple meals.
"The reaction was actually immediate and really incredible," said San Luis Barbecue Company owner Matt Pearce. "We have people come in and purchase fifty meals at a time, just wanting to support this industry and this community."
It's a "no questions asked" policy regarding asking for a free meal from the restaurant, says Pearce. He just asks that you pay it forward when possible.
Old San Luis Barbecue Company has locations at 670 Higuera St. and 3870-3 Broad St.
