Paso Robles police caught a 17-year-old who they say was behind a school fundraising scam.

An officer tried to stop a car last week near the high school. The driver ditched the car in a driveway and hid behind a travel trailer in the same driveway.

The police department says there was a manila envelope inside his car which had forged documents asking for donations for a high school fundraiser. PRPD was contacted by San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office stating the teen also collected donations in San Luis Obispo.

The suspect was arrested.

Paso Robles PD say this is the form he was using.

Paso Robles High School has a no door-to-door, donation-only policy. Any school fundraisers must also be approved by the district.

The police department says to call them if you question the validity of a fundraiser.

If you believe you are a victim of this scam, you're asked to call the police department.
