A temporary cooling center in Paso Robles will remain open a little longer.
People hoping for some relief from the heat can head to Centennial Park gym at 600 Nickerson Drive from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 21.
The cooling center was going to close after Wednesday but due to hot temperatures and poor air quality from a fire in Monterey County, the City says the site will now remain open through Friday.
"Visitors must undergo a non-contact wellness check and wear a face covering (one will be provided if needed). Members of the same household may sit together. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian at all times," the City said in a press release.
Limited people are allowed inside due to COVID-19 restrictions.
People needing a safe place for their pets can take them to North County Animal Hospital, 825 24th St.
