The Paso Robles Police Department says officers arrested a parolee and a woman on suspicion of illegally possessing a firearm, burglary tools, narcotics and evading arrest early Saturday morning.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, Paso Robles police responded to a report of a man setting off fireworks in an alley on 1900 Park Street in Paso Robles, according to a press release from the Paso Robles Police Department.

The police department says after officials arrived on scene, a black Nissan sped off from the alley.

After attempting to conduct a traffic stop, police say they followed the car to the 2200 block of Park Street in Paso Robles, where the passenger, Rudolfo Cerda III, ran from the car.

Officials say the driver, Nicole Gatto, remained in the driver's seat and was detained on scene. Police say Gatto had a misdemeanor warrant for her arrest and was reportedly in possession of suspected illegal narcotic drugs.

Police say one officer chased Cerda III and arrested him several blocks away from the car. Officials say Cerda III was a parolee at large and known gang member.

Upon investigating, officers say Cerda III possessed about 5 grams of suspected fentanyl and several rounds of ammunition. Inside the car, police say they found gloves, a black ski mask and two sets of bolt cutters.

The police department says Cerda III and Gatto are booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on multiple charges.

Officials are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the police department at 805-237-6464.
