Sidewalk improvements under a portion of Highway 101 near the Pismo Preserve are now complete.
Construction of the sidewalk began a few months ago as a more permanent walkway for pedestrians.
Some hikers, who were unable to park in the preserve’s parking lot, were having to park down the hill and walk into the preserve.
The sidewalk replaces bright orange cones first placed to create a barrier between cars and pedestrians.
The Pismo Preserve offers nearly 11 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
It opened in January after nearly six years since it was purchased by the Land Conservancy in 2014.
