Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to a fatal crash along Highway 154 Friday night.
The crash happened on the 2500 block of Highway 154 near Lake Cachuma at around 7:14 p.m.
Firefighter say when they arrived they found a single vehicle that rolled over into an oak tree.
Firefighters determined extensive extrication was needed to get the single occupant out of the vehicle. That person was declared dead on scene.
According to CHP, witnesses report the driver was attempting to pass a vehicle at a high rate of speed before the crash.
CHP is conducting traffic control in the area.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
