Crews will burn nearly 95 brush piles starting Monday, February 7th through next Sunday in the Hearst San Simeon State Park area.

Burning may start as early as 7 a.m. and last through 5 p.m. each day, according to state rangers.

The burning will take place in the area of the Washburn Campground in the Monterey pine forest.

The prescribed burn may also take place in the southern forest east of the northern Moonstone Beach Dr. intersection with Highway 1.

Officials say this burn will help reduce fuel loads and fire hazards associated with high fuel density caused by tree mortality.
