The 73rd Annual Clam Festival is underway in Pismo Beach.

The festival continues through Sunday, Oct. 20 and includes a parade at 10 a.m. Saturday on Price Street.

There will also be an expanded Kid Zone, vendors, a beer and wine garden, food trucks, and of course, a clam chowder contest and clam dig.

Most of the events are free and take place at the pier parking lot, located at 100 Pomeroy Ave.

The festival attracts thousands of people to Pismo Beach and is a boost for local businesses.

"it's just kind of giving back so we can continue to do great things for the businesses here, primarily, and it keeps our chamber functioning in a positive way," said Valerie Mercado, Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce Vice Chair.
