ORIGINAL STORY - Police blocked access to a Grover Beach neighborhood Monday afternoon after receiving a report of shots fired inside a house just after 4 p.m.

It happened at a home in the 1000 block of Ritchie Road.

Ritchie Road was blocked off from North 12th Street to Sharon Lane.

Neighbors were not evacuated, but anyone who was out of the area when the road was closed was not being allowed to return home.

Police said they had no confirmation of any injuries related to the shooting but were still trying to make contact with the man believed to be inside.

Neighbors reported the shooting to police and directed officers to the home.

Family members of the man reportedly told police that they had been in an argument with the man sometime prior to the shooting.

Police said those family members were safe and the man was the only person believed to be inside the house.

Grover Beach Police Department Commander Bryan Millard said there was no threat to the public.

Grover Beach PD, Pismo Beach PD, State Parks, and the San Luis Obispo County Regional SWAT Team were at the scene as of 6 p.m. and a command post was set up at neighboring Grover Heights Elementary School.

Police said a response by the SWAT Team was standard procedure anytime a subject refuses to come out of their house and weapons are involved.

This is a developing story and will be updated with new information as it becomes available.
