Officers in Santa Maria are asking community members to help with their investigation into a murder that occurred late Saturday afternoon.
According to a news release from the Santa Maria Police Department, police responded to shots fired on the 900 block of West El Camino Street at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult man with a fatal gunshot wound, according to the release. The person or persons who fired the shots left the scene before police arrived.
Police are withholding the victim's name pending next of kin notification, according to the news release.
