UPDATE: Paso Robles Police say a pedestrian walking in traffic on Highway 46, west of Buena Vista Dr. was struck and killed by a vehicle at about 6:49 P.M. Wednesday. Paso Robles Police Officers arrived on scene and discovered an adult male victim dead on the roadway.
Police determined the pedestrian was walking in the westbound lane of traffic for an unknown reason and was struck by a westbound passenger vehicle. Two other vehicles, which were also going westbound, attempted to avoid the victim in the roadway but may have also struck him with their vehicles. The Paso Robles Police Department’s Traffic Unit, the California Highway Patrol and the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
The victim has been identified, but his name is being with held pending notification of next of kin. At this time, it appears as if alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in this collision for the involved drivers.
ORIGINAL STORY: A portion of Highway 46 was closed Wednesday night in Paso Robles.
Paso Robles police remained on scene as of 8:15 p.m. and had the highway at Golden Hill Road closed.
A possible hit-and-run was reported on the highway at Buena Vista Drive around 6:45 p.m. A body could be seen on the road in the area but CHP is not providing information related to the incident.
