A 300 acre prescribed burn is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday about three miles northwest of Cuesta College.
CAL FIRE is partnering with the San Luis Obispo Sportsmen's Association, San Luis Obispo County APCD and the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The goal is to reduce fire hazard and provide live fire training for firefighters. CAL FIRE plans to utilize five fire engines, 2 hand crews and 1 bulldozer for the burn.
The burn is planned for the shooting range along the north side of Highway 1 and Gilardi Road.
Smoke is expected to be visible in the El Chorro area and the north end of San Luis Obispo from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
The burn may be rescheduled if conditions are not within established weather and resource parameters.
