Groundbreaking on a project to upgrade the track and field at Lompoc High School is expected later this month.
On Tuesday, the Lompoc Unified School District Board of Education accepted a $1.2 million donation for the project from the Campaign for the Lompoc Community Track & Field and the Rotary Club.
The renovations will include an upgrade to an artificial turf field, an all-weather rubberized 9-lane track, new track and field amenities, an outdoor exercise zone for community use, filtered water drinking fountains, security cameras, and lighting.
The work is expected to be completed by May of 2020.
