A repeat DUI felon is back behind bars after leading police on a chase Wednesday night.
Santa Maria police say at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers tried to stop a car driving without its headlights turned on.
The driver did not stop and instead lead officers on a chase, according to police.
Authorities say during the pursuit, the driver, 30-year-old Andy Mena, accelerated in reverse and crashed into a police vehicle.
Mena continue to drive recklessly and at high speeds through the city of Santa Maria until police say he rear-ended a car waiting at a red stoplight at the intersection of Blosser Rd. and Betteravia Rd.
The driver of the car Mena rear-ended was taken to the hospital for pain.
Meanwhile, Mena was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.
Santa Maria police say Mena has been convicted for driving drunk at least three times before. At the time of Wednesday's incident, police say Mena was driving on a suspended license due to one of his previous DUIs and had a felony warrant out for his arrest.
