While students have been at home during the coronavirus pandemic, one Righetti High School student has been using her extra time to sew masks for family and friends.
Madison Curran started sewing on March 21, using a pattern and instructions from a hospital source.
Her art teacher says she's been making about six masks a day.
The project came about because Madi's mom needed protection while running errands and shopping.
After creating the first mask for her mom, she kept sewing and is now donating masks to nurses at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Madi says she plans to continue sewing until the masks are no longer needed.
