There have been many changes and cancellations this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign will still be out in full force, just with more safety precautions.

Officials say collectors will be wearing masks. People will also be able to make donations this year through Apple and Google Pay, partially due to the coin shortage.

"We will be there with the iconic red kettles this Christmas season for you to go out and ring and still continue those traditions with your kids to make sure they know the importance of giving back to the community," San Luis Obispo County Salvation Army Coordinator Elaine Mansoor said.

You can also visit the Salvation Army's website to donate to virtual kettles.
