A San Diego man was arrested in Morro Bay after a report of an assault at the Mobil gas station on Morro Bay Boulevard.

It happened shortly after noon on Sunday.

Police say the suspect, Andrew Robert Bergfalk, 21, entered the store intoxicated and confronted the store clerk about her relationship status. They say he then walked around the counter and removed her phone from her waistband.

Police say another store employee tried to intervene and that resulted in a physical altercation in which Bergfalk struck both employees. All three people reportedly suffered injuries as a result of the fight.

Officers responded and took Bergfalk into custody. He was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of grand theft, battery, and disorderly conduct.

Investigators are asking anyone with additional information about this incident to call the Morro Bay Police Department at (805) 772-6225 or Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-STOP.
