San Luis Obispo County community members celebrate International Women's Day early at 'POEMPowerment'

Women's March SLO, in partnership with the History Center of San Luis Obispo County, hosted "POEMPowerment" to celebrate International Women's Day.

The event took place at the History Center in San Luis Obispo on Saturday and featured poets were Diana Sousa and Lisa Coffman.

Dian Sousa is a recipient of a 2019 Luso-American Fellowship to the DISQUIET: Dzanc Books International Literary Program. She has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes.

Lisa Coffman's work has been featured in BBC News, Village Voice, Philadelphia Inquirer and numerous other journals. She’s also the author of two collections of poetry: Likely and Less Obvious Gods.

Attendees enjoyed complimentary wine, non-alcoholic beverages and light appetizers.

The event was free and open to all.
