Starting June 1, San Luis Obispo County is shifting the Oceano Coastal Dunes RV Park & Campground safe overnight parking program into a safe shower program to help homeless individuals, according to a press release.

The statement said that this program is meant to assist homeless people so they have a place to shower and meet basic needs during the coronavirus pandemic. Previously, the safe overnight parking program allowed the homeless to have a place to park and sleep overnight. The program continues in Los Osos and San Luis Obispo.

Officials said this is the beginning of stage three of the state's Resilience Roadmap.

Showers will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mavericks Campground, the release said.

The parking for showers will have a time limit of 30 minutes while social distancing rules, as well as site rules will be enforced.

The release also said that park staff will regularly clean the showers, while campground and county rangers monitor the sites.
