A San Luis Obispo man died in a plane crash in Virginia this week.
Shenandoah National Park officials say a Piper PA-20-135 crashed into trees at the park Wednesday afternoon.
The pilot has been identified as Nicolas Hellewell, 35. He was the only one onboard.
Officials say parts of the park and trails in the area remain closed while the FAA investigation is ongoing.
The wreckage is expected to be removed early next week.
