The first-ever outdoor mural at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art is ready for public viewing.

Internationally renowned artist Juan Alberto Negroni painted all four sides of the museum in his mural project "Pacificaribbean."

The mural showcases a symbiotic relationship between art and nature.

Cuesta College and Cal Poly students assisted Negroni in the design.

"I'm so excited I'm leaving this here, and probably I'll come back later to see how it still exists, and I'm excited to be part of a new beginning," said Negroni. "This will probably bring more people to the museum."

Thank you Mayor Heidi Harmon for helping artist Juan Alberto Negroni paint today! Stop by on Saturday for the unveiling...

The guest curator of the project said works like this are important to highlight the artistic talents of people of color.

"I think it's a really important moment to uplift artists of color anyway and he and I already had a connection, a relationship, a friendship, so [Negroni] was the first person who came to mind when I thought about who I want to work with for this project," guest curator Emma Saperstein said.

You can check out the mural and visit the museum at 1010 Broad Street on the west end of Mission Plaza.
