The life-saving app PulsePoint is expanding to Santa Barbara.
The Santa Barbara City Fire Department has signed on to begin using the app and plans to debut it at Tuesday night's city council meeting.
The app's goal is to connect people who may be suffering sudden cardiac arrest with those nearby who can perform CPR while first responders are on their way.
Alerts are sent to phones with the app as firefighters and paramedics are dispatched to an emergency.
The app is free to download on Apple and Android devices.
It is currently being utilized by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, CAL FIRE San Luis Obispo, and the San Luis Obispo City Fire Department.
