Santa Barbara County Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop that resulted in the seizure of 92 firearms and over 90 grams of methamphetamine.
It happened at around 12:43 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5. Deputies say in the Isla Vista area they saw a Dodge Charger peel out in front of pedestrians near Camino Del Sur.
A traffic stop was conducted in the area of Los Carneros and Hollister. During that stop, deputies contacted Kyle Dodge, 36, of Goleta. A search of the vehicle revealed over 90 grams of methamphetamine and 22 firearms, 12 of which were loaded.
Dodge was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a silencer, possession of an assault weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of a high capacity magazine, manufacturing a short barrel rifle, transportation of a controlled substance for sales, and exhibition of speed.
A follow-up investigation resulted in a search warrant of Dodge's residence on Vega Drive in Goleta. Deputies seized 70 additional firearms and approximately 50 containers of ammunition and magazines.
This investigation is ongoing. Dodge is being held on $500,000 bail.
